FUJIFILM CHOOSES İSTANBUL FOR ITS INNOVATION HUB

Fujifilm has established its sixth Open Innovation Hub in İstanbul. The aim is to further enhance the scope of its comprehensive technological infrastructure (currently covering a wide range of areas including photography, medical, graphic systems and industrial products) to a wider domain.

The Fujifilm hubs already operational in Japan, the USA, Holland, Spain and the UK. Fujifilm Turkey, being the managerial head-quarters for the Fujifilm’s operations in 15 countries, including Kazakhstan, Uzbekistan and Azerbaijan, is now positioned as an ‘innovation hub’. The Open Innovation Hub of Fujifilm will serve the development of various technologies based on ideas originating from Caucasian, Central Asian, Balkan, Middle Eastern and African countries as well as Turkey.

7 percent of the overall annual global turnover of Fujifilm is derived from R&D operations.

BASF MANAGES ITS OPERATIONS IN 79 COUNTRIES THROUGH ITS HQ IN İSTANBUL

World-renowned chemistry corporation BASF conducted its first sales in Turkey in 1880. It has 800 employees in its Turkish office and production facilities in Dilovası, Çayırova, Gebze, Trabzon and Adana. With 100 thousand staff members globally in a broad range of fields extending from plastics to performance products, plant protection products to oil and gas, BASF Turkey has a fairly strategic position as the HQ in İstanbul also manages BASF’s operations in some 78 countries, including the Russian Federation, Turkic Republics, the Middle East and Africa.

CHINA-BASED ZTE ACQUIRES NETAS STOCKS

Chinese telecom equipment manufacturer ZTE has acquired Netas, a pioneer player of digital transformation in Turkey. ZTE aims to position Turkey as a regional hub. The corporation, which offers its services to prominent companies from the public, telecommunications, financial and the general industries, enjoys leading position in system integration, software development, network hardware, software exports as well as installation, maintenance and support categories.

PEPSICO TO ESTABLISH A NEW FACTORY IN ANATOLIA

Turkey stands as a major market for PepsiCo thanks to its growing economy, strong financial structure, young and increasing population and well-educated human capital. The corporation, thus, continues investing in Turkey as proven by its third food production plant, the foundation of which was laid in Manisa last year. PepsiCo Turkey maintains its beverage production operations in İzmir, Çorlu and Adana, while its food production operations through 5 factories are based in İzmit and Tarsus.

PIRELLI BASES ITS GLOBAL TIRE PRODUCTION OPERATIONS IN İZMİT

Pirelli based its headquarters for the EMEA Region in Turkey, and appointed Turkish executives to the HQ in 2016. Türk Pirelli, which was established in 1960 as the first Turkish Tire Factory, released the first domestically produced tires, manufactured at its factory in İzmit, in 1962. Türk Pirelli Tires Factory in Kocaeli is the largest production facility of the group with 340 thousand square-meter area, and operates with an annual production capacity of 7 million tires. Formula 1’s official tire supplier Pirelli produces all F1 tires in İzmit.

MOBILE GAMES LEADER EXPANDS TO EUROPE THROUGH TURKEY

South-Korean software developer TmaxSoft has based its MEA headquarters in Turkey in order to support the accomplishment of its global growth goals. TmaxSoft, now, manages its operations in the region, which encompasses Greece, Bulgaria and Romania amongst other countries, through its HQ in Turkey. On the other hand, the company’s operations in Turkish Republics are managed jointly through its offices in Russia and Turkey.

Established in 1997 with a view to develop novel products as an alternative to the products of global leading software developers; TmaxSoft aims at expanding its organizational network to 42 countries by 2021.

GSK CHOOSES İSTANBUL AS ITS PHARMACEUTICAL SUPPLY HUB

Global pharmaceutics corporation GSK has taken significant steps to position Turkey as its regional hub of supply operations as it moved the headquarters of GSK MEA region, comprised of 30 countries, to İstanbul. The corporation, set up a new region of operations within its organizational structure, the MENA/CIS, to cover Middle East, North Africa, Central Asia and Ukraine in 2014, and incorporated the Russian Federation to the said region in 2015. GSK, then, acted to further integrate and optimized its market demand, inventory management and logistic distribution activities by way of a new operational model, where the Pharmaceutics Supply Chain headquarters in the Middle East and South Africa as well as the satellite operations in Karachi, Pakistan has been based in İstanbul.

MAJOR PAYMENT SYSTEMS MARKET PLAYER MANAGES OPERATIONS IN 60 COUNTRIES THROUGH TURKEY

Verifone, established in the USA in 1981 and reputed for its innovations in the payment systems market, manages its operations in more than 60 countries spread over Southeast Europe, the Middle East and Africa through Turkey. Verifone, with its 5 thousand employees and roughly USD2 billion turnover, is referred to as a payment systems industry giant. The corporation has been active in Turkey through its own office for 10 years. Verifone Turkey is one of the 5 regional headquarters of the corporation, which operates through nearly 30 million installed devices and terminals in over 150 countries.
