İTO’s new President Avdagiç said:
- “Our projects will strengthen our 400,000 members and will serve as a main pillar for our bright future, under the leadership of His Excellency President Erdoğan.”
- “We have many purpose-designed projects at hand, all set to play a key role in Turkey’s development. And we have no time to waste.”
Şekib Avdagiç is the new President elect of the Board of İstanbul Chamber of Commerce (ICOC), the industry organisation representing one in every four businesses in İstanbul.
261 ICOC Councillors from 81 professions cast their votes on April 14, 2018 at the Eminönü Headquarters of ICOC, electing Şekib Avdagiç as the 24th Board President of the 136 year strong ICOC.
President Avdagiç’s new Board consists of the following names: İsrafil Kuralay, Servet Samsama, İbrahim Doğan Salman, Dursun Topçu, Ahmet Özer, Yakup Köç, Burhan Polat, Levent Taş, Bahadır Yaşık, Adil Coşkun.
A PILLAR OF TURKEY’S BRIGHT FUTURE UNDER THE LEADERHIP OF PRESIDENT ERDOĞAN
After announcement of the election results, ICOC President Avdagiç said in a speech addressed to the Councillors: We have a brand new road ahead of us. Our projects will strengthen our 400,000 members and will serve as a main pillar for our bright future, under the leadership of His Excellency President Erdoğan.We have many purpose-designed projects at hand, all set to play a key role in our country’s development. And we have no time to waste.”
Avdagiç also thanked in his speech all stakeholders who have wholeheartedly supported his candidacy, including the members of ICOC, NGOs, and industry representatives. Avdagiç said:“Many colleguaes and friends stood with us during this period, and put in their efforts supporting us. I would like to take this opportunity to thank each and every one of them.”
‘WE ARE HERE TO ENHANCE THE BRAND VALUE OF İSTANBUL’
President Avdagiç said: “ICOC is a member of “Team Turkey”, striving to further Turkey’s efforts in its vision to be a leader in this new conjuncture, as borders are redrawn and the rules of the game are rewritten. We are here to enhance the brand value of İstanbul and to strenghten the bridges connecting Turkey to the rest of the world.”
Avdagiç stated: “We stand against the currency manipulations with our commercial stamina. We are here to break free from interest rate shackles with our production competencies. We have a national perspective and take it upon us to support development through local manufaturing. That is also why ICOC for us is a century old refuge powering up the business world. Your complaisance for myself and ICOC puts the onus on us to rise up to the challenge.”
İstanbul Chamber of Commerce is one of the top five industry organisations in the world by number of members and represent one in four businesses in Turkey. ICOC member businesses contribute %28 of GDP, 43% of tax revenues, and more than 50% of foreign trade.
