SITE OF THE SULTANS
The historical Cemile Sultan Woods was the site where Abdülmecid's daughter Cemile Sultan and her family lived from 1843 to 1914. During that period, the woods came to be known as a recreational area for the sultans. After the Great War, the mansion was left in disrepair, and began to return to its former glory only after it was purchased in 1969 by the Union of Chambers and Commodity Exchanges of Turkey. Since 1994, the Woods are operated by Istanbul Chamber of Commerce, and is home to thousands of trees in tens of distinct species.
