Named the best meetings city of Europe, for the second time ISTANBUL

2015 saw Istanbul named once again the Best Meeting Destination of Europe within the framework of the Meetings Star Awards for which 60 cities from Southern and Central Europe competed.

In the awards ceremony organized in Ljubljana, Slovenia, by Kongres Magazine, one of the leading convention sector publications of Europe, Istanbul ranked top with a score of 4.61. Prague and Belgrade followed Istanbul in top three.

Istanbul had won the same award in 2014 as well. Istanbul Convention & Visitors Bureau (ICVB) accepted the award on behalf of the city.

The members of the jury made their choices on the basis of a set of criteria including natural and cultural attractions, transportation and tourism infrastructure, quality of venues and services, and an edge in marketing. Furthermore, the city rankings by the International Congress and Convention Association (ICCA) and the Life Quality Index by numbeo.com were taken into account.

Speaking about the award, Acting Chair of Istanbul Convention & Visitors Bureau, Bahadır Yaşık said "Istanbul, as the host of most important conventions and meetings worldwide, having been awarded twice in a row, is proof of the quality of service the city puts out."
